With the decision to cancel school (in person classes) for the rest of the year, homeschooling is in full effect. The twins have had a fair share of work, nothing too overwhelming, and their teachers are keeping us well informed of assignments, processes, and expectations. They have had opportunities for Google video chats and lessons, as well as being able to use their notes for quizzes and tests. Ryan has gotten up each morning and completed his work for the day. Kaitlyn, true to her form and just like her mom, is a procrastinator. She spreads her work through the day and prefers to have help from Matt and I. We have had to google math explanations and refreshed our middle school brains in science and social studies. It's hard not to give the kids all the right answers so my goal was to guide them and hope they could determine for themselves. I was concerned about them not being in a classroom setting with routine and structure (and teachers!). As finals are upon us, they both look they will finish the year with A's and B's. This has definitely been a learning experience in more ways than one. Here's to hoping 8th grade gets back to normal!Wednesday, May 13, 2020
