Girl Scout Senior and Silver!

Kaitlyn has been a Girl Scout for approximately 10 years. Starting in Kindergarten and now in 9th grade, she has decided to continue. Over the years she has been in a few troops starting in NY and when we moved to Georgia. Her first troop in Georgia disbanded so she tried a new one for a year but there was just no connections. This year she opted to become a Juliette, which basically means she is an independent scout with no troop affiliation. She can continue to do everything all other scouts do and there are events specifically for Juliettes. The first one was a drive-thru bridging ceremony which she participated in on August 21st. She is now Senior Scout and just completed her Silver Award.

For Kaitlyn's Silver Award, she worked on her Bat Mitzvah project and Silver Award together completing all the requirements for both. She learned how to sew bags for walkers and wheelchairs and donated them to Lanier Village residents and spoke to them about her project. To earn this award she completed her Cadette Journey (creating friendship rocks and distributing them around the neighborhood) and 50 hours of committed time working on her project.
