Day Trippin'

One of the holiday gifts for the twins this year was supposed to be a little getaway to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Unfortunately, due to the rise in the positivity rates in COVID, we opted to postpone that trip. We opted to take a ride to Pine Mountain, Georgia and we visited a drive-thru animal safari and holiday lights at Callaway Gardens.  We also spent the day in Helen and tried the Georgia Mountain Coaster.

The safari was a blast, I had not laughed that hard in a long time. We rented one of the safari vans not knowing what to expect and, with several animals attempting to stick their heads instead the vehicle, we are glad we did! They literally swarm the car and eat out of your hand. It took Kate a while to warm up before she finally gave in to feeding them.

Callaway Gardens was nice as well. I would like to go back when the gardens are in bloom but we enjoyed the trolley car ride through the Fantasy in Lights Christmas Display. It has over 8 million lights and the musical trip is a few miles long.

We also spent some time in Helen and tried the Georgia Mountain Coaster. We tried to find a restaurant but the directions took us down a one way, dirt road that was flooded out!
