Our Second Honeymoon...

Matt and I just returned from a second honeymoon at Couples Swept Away in Jamaica.  Let's just say I am ready to go back. This was our first vacation away without the kids in 10 years.  It goes without saying we missed them and were able to Facetime them several times, but this was such a needed getaway.  We can't thank our family enough for taking care of the twins while we were gone.

See ya!!!

When we arrived we knew we chose the right place. It was peaceful and beautiful.

We spent the day relaxing by the beach and the pool, eating delicious food and drinks, enjoying entertainment and just reconnecting. The staff was friendly and accommodating and remembered your name just after meeting you the first time.

We were able to do a few excursions which included a glass bottom boat ride, a shopping trip and a trip to YS Falls and Black River Safari.

Although out actual anniversary was in April, this vacation was getaway celebration for our 10th wedding anniversary .

(This was sent to us by my awesome recreation staff !)

The best part of this vacation was a surprise I had planned for Matt.  It was months in the making and he had absolutely no idea.

I asked him to marry me..again. I had planned an entire vow renewal ceremony on the beach. From the music, his attire and my dress. He knew nothing. As a matter of fact, the only people that knew were a few friends and my mother.  Matt's responses included , "What? When? Out there? On the beach?" and when he finally understood what was happening, of course he said, "Yes".  I also purchased leather embossed bracelets for us with the coordinates of the beach on them.   I had my makeup done in the spa, we had a wedding assistant and everything was perfect. I walked down the beach to Matt to the song, "Marry You" by Bruno Mars.  I had written my vows and Matt spoke off the cuff. It was such a beautiful scene...on the beach, private but a few people observing. We had our "second first dance" on the beach to Bret Michaels "All I Ever Needed".  We had a little wedding cake and cut the cake to our original wedding song "Me and You" by Kenny Chesney.  Our ceremony also included a photo session.  The day was absolutely perfect.

Matt, There comes a time in a person's life when they realize they have found the one they are meant to spend the rest of their days with.  For me, that day was our first date, December 7, 2002.
I don't think there is such a thing as a perfect marriage. I know, we both have "our moments". We have shared struggles, life changes, heartbreaking loss, excitement and amazing family moments. It is all these moments, both good and bad, which have only made our marriage stronger.
In our 10 years of marriage, this is what I have learned:
You are funny, caring, supportive, loving,
You encourage me to take chances but never push me.
Holding you hand is one of the best feelings in the world.
Your arms are my comfort, especially when I am trying to grab a quick hug and a two-person hug becomes a four-person family  hug.
We balance each other out and make a good team.
You are my rock.
Most importantly, in the eyes of our beautiful twins, you are the best daddy in the universe.
Today, as we renew our wedding vows, I love you more than I did when we said "I do" 10 years ago. I promise to continue as your devoted life partner, to share my unconditional love with you and to build a lifetime of memories.
Dawn,  It was 12 1/2 years ago when we met that first night at the Ground Round. At the end of our date, I asked if I could kiss you. I remember you told me later you called your friends and said, "He actually asked if he could kiss me! What a nice guy!". Two months later we had a conversation about having kids in the future and all that stuff and I knew what was going to happen.
Here we are, 12 years later, two beautiful kids... 8 year old twins, and still going strong.
I love you more than ever.  Every day gets better and better even with challenges or when I get "the look" you give me now and then.
Let's keep this going forever.

An end to an amazing vacation!
