We shared so many laughs and cries
Through thick and thin he was by my side
We had lots of fun times
Swimming in the pool and going out to eat
He would say there is nothing more fun than spending time with me
As the days went by and he got sicker and sicker
He said everything would be okay and not to worry
But I knew something was wrong and as he got weaker
I would sit by his side every day of the summer
Until that tragic day happened
Now I only have those fond memories
That I will share with my little cousins
Who did not get to share these special times with the man I called Poppy
I know he is watching over us from above
And he is still with us in our hearts

Although this picture is difficult to post, I thought it was appropriate to add here. This was the last picture taken of my dad with his first born grandchild, Jessica.

So beautiful, Dawn. Your dad was an amazing man, and I know he's looking down on you from above. *huge hugs*

Dawn,
I think you should write a book about the family, for the family. You do a wonderful job explaining your feelings. Any one who knows you can feel what you are feeling as you write. Thank you for sharing. It made us feel Richies presence around us. We were there when the picture was taken with the Met bear and your niece. We cared a great deal for your Dad. He gave us many laughs. It was always fun with them, together, with Ron and Angie. They had the same polo shirts and when they wore them Dad said they were the 3 "gay caballeros". That is the kind of memories we have.
With much LOVE to you and your family....
