14 Months Old

Wow, how things are changing so fast. Katie and Ryan are accomplishing so much so fast.

Ryan, you are a speed demon. You are yet to take those unassisted steps, with the exception of once or twice, but my boy, you get where you need to go and fast. You love to climb! It is your preferred method of travel. You are picking up words and tasks impressively quick. You now say: Daddy, Da-da, Daisy, Hi, Uh-oh, and Go. Mommy is eagerly awaiting Ma-ma! This week you found your ears and belly. Nana is working in helping you find your toes. You love to play with your toys and will sit and look thru books. Your favorite thing to do is take all the toys out of the wicker basket and throw them over the gate. You then use the basket to climb, attempting to get to higher ground. These past weeks you have been starting to show a temper. When you get mad or upset you seem to throw yourself down and bang your head on the floor. Not a pretty sight. We will work on that one Buddy. You have been tolerating foods well and your PKU levels have been well maintained. We started giving you new lo-pro foods I order thru a company called Cambrooke Foods. Recently you have tried their ravioli, veggie meatballs , bread, blubeberry toasties, and tweekz (meatless chicken nuggets). Most of their "meat" foods are veggie based. The store products like veggie burgers and soy nuggets are too high in protein for you. Mommy still gets frustrated and upset at times but I know we are doing what is best for you and we are still learning. Because you have been been tolerating milk, yogurt and regular cheese, I am hoping we can try eggs next month. You love, love, love waffles(Trader Joes wheat free/dairy free), pancakes, all fruit, pasta and cracker type snacks. You love to be tickled (especially on those chubba chubba thighs) and you love to play "rough". I get out a kick out of you looking over the gate when Daisy barks to see who is there. You are so expressive Ryan. It is so much fun in the morning seeing how excited you get when we come in to get you. Daddy loves hearing you call "Da" from your crib. Come on, can't you throw one "Ma" into the mix!

I love you Monkey!

Kaitlyn. My sweet little peanut. You are making such great motor skill gains and we are so proud of you. In the past few days you have started climbing the stairs and holding on to the couch and taking steps. You get sooo excited when we praise you and start clapping at yourself. We know sometimes you get frustrated at your PT sessions but keep up the good work. Soon you will be running circles around your "little" brother. You are very vocal when you want to be. Upon meeting people, you are very content and a hard smile but once you warm up...everyone falls in love with those big eyes. You have quite the scream but it is offset by the cutest little giggle. You still love to be tickled and often say "tickle tickle tickle". Your current words of choice are Da-da, Daisy and drum roll please.....Ma!!! Yeah, I got a Ma-ma from my baby girl. It is the best sound in the world (can you teach it to your brother?). As far as eating, you love to eat what you love ad refuse to eat anything other than that. You can't get enough fruit, chicken and meats, fries, tator tots, any form of bread and pasta. Oh, all those carbs Katie. You get that from your Daddy. You scrape all the veggies off your tongue that actually make it in your mouth with the excepton of peas and recently eggplant. A little garlic and oil seems to do the trick. We are working on the sippy cup but you love that bottle. You need your personal space and tend to get annoyed, hence the biting, when Ryan enters it. Those teeth, all 11 of them, are adorable but you have to learn biting is not on the list for uses. You love to sit and play in your crib and will do so for a long time both before and after sleeping. Mommy appreciates that more than you know. You can't however sleep without our pink dolly. I love checking in you and seeing you sleeping with it in your arms.

I love you Peanut!
I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
