3 years ago today Matt and I started our journey as husband and wife. It was a beautiful day, as is today in NY. If you asked me on my wedding day if I thought we would be celebrating our 3rd anniversary with our 2 children, twins nonetheless, I would have thought you were crazy. They show us unconditonal love every day.Matt, you are my rock and I love you. I know we have "our days" but you truly are such a giving and caring man. Watching you over the past 10 months as we became parents has completely brought on a whole new meaning of the love I have for you. Thank you for all you do (especially the garbage, the bathrooms and getting me water.) Thank you for accepting me as I am, my faults and all. Thank you for loving me.
My brother and sister read a poem called "Hands" during our ceremony. I have it hanging in my hallway and it is one of my favorites.
These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever.
These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other.
These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind.
These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow, and as in today, tears of joy.
These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children, the hands that will help you to hold your family as one.
These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.
And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.
