Another Rainbow Bridge Crossing...
I am very sad to say that my parents had to put their dog to sleep today. Last Friday Buttercup got a hold of my fathers high blood pressure pills. She ate 15 of them. It was a horrible accident and my parents are devastated. She went into renal failure. She was just too sick. She had not been eating or drinking in almost a week and her kidney functioning did not improve after 3 days of IV and meds. Prior to getting Buttercup, my father swore he would never get another dog. After the loss of our last dog, he just couldn't go through that again. My mother on the other hand always wanted a dog. When my father was battling cancer he decided to get a dog for my mom to keep her company. He will openly admit he was afraid he was going to lose the battle and wanted my mom to have a dog to "keep her company". Fortunately, my dad is doing great and the cancer is gone. And needless to say, they fell in love with their newest member of the family. My parents are devastated and my mom is overwrought with guilt. Buttercup was her "buddy". Buttercup was only one and a half years old but she was a special part of our family in such a short time. She was great with the twins and just liked to sit between them. Her and Daisy loved to chase one another around and wrestle. When they wore each other out they loved to cuddle up and sleep next to one another.
