38 Weeks & 1 Day...

Labor DayToday

38 weeks and 1 day..that is how long Kaitlyn and Ryan spent in my tummy and that is how old they are today.

At their 9 month well check their stats were:
Kaitlyn 18lb 1oz 27 1/2 inches
Ryan 21lbs 6 oz 29 1/2 inches

Kaitlyn and Ryan may be twins but they are so different. Kaitlyn is very content and inquisitive. She examines everything! She is meeting all the milestones for her age except she a little behind with her physical strength. We need to get those stomach muscles toned up! She is very vocal and every once in while we hear a "mama" or "da-da". She is a good eater but definitely lets us know when she has had enough or what she does not like. She loves crackers, fruit, cheerios, and her veggies. Not so keen on the "baby food" pasta but will eat regular pasta. We are now going to start giving her a lot of new foods and textures. As you can see she has 2 good chompers!

Ryan is a powerhouse!! He is all over the place and getting into everything. Getting him dressed and changing his diaper is a wrestling match. He mostly does the army crawl but the past few days he has been getting up on all four and rocking back and forth. He knows what he wants and when he wants it. He loves to eat! Unlike Katie, if we kept on feeding him, he wouldn't stop. His PKU levels remain good. His metabolic doctor says she is "very happy with his numbers". Currently he eats mostly fruits, veggies, crackers and cheerios. No meat or dairy proteins. Ryan also cut his first tooth about 2 weeks ago.

There is one very important part of our lives I don't think I have mentioned. Our first baby girl, Daisy. A lot of people ask us how Daisy is doing with the babies. Let's just say their first word may be "Daisy, No". Daisy is really good with the babies, she likes to try to lick them and every once in a while she succeeds. Of course, anything that falls on their floor, like socks or food, is fair game. The twins love her. Every time she walks past them, they laugh, especially Katie. She just gets a kick out of this four legged furry thing. Daisy's health has been good, knock on wood. The last time we had her blood work check and her liver functioning, she was status quo. If you recall, she has a portosystemic liver shunt. Unlike our children, she is not the best eater. She eats her Rx food 1x a day, if that, and loves her carrots. We are surprised she hasn't turned orange. She will be 3 years old at the end of May. When she was diagnosed with her liver shunt our vet told us her life expectancy may only be a few years. So far, she has not shown any signs or symptoms of a decline.

So, that' s the latest happenings in our world. Please leave us a comment and let us know what is happening in yours.
