One of the benefits of the twins daycare center, Bright Horizons, being located at the nursing facility where I work is they get to participate in intergenerational programs. The Therapeutic Recreation Department I work in offers intergenerational activities to the resident's such as sing-a-longs, bowling, exercise, a costume parade and cooking demonstrations (pictures below) . The children are invited to attend some of our special events as well including the dog shows and music programs. It gives the resident's the opportunities to be around the young children, something they enjoy immensely. Many of the resident's know the children by name and get to watch them grow up. On the other hand, I think the benefits to the children are priceless. Our children see beyond the wheelchair and the disabilities. Our intergenerational programs foster friendships across generations.

So important...and what a blessing that it can all take place while you're on the job!
