I Miss You.

I miss hearing your voice. I watch home videos with the twins and wish I could have made time stand still. June 15, 2008 was Father's Day. It was the last recording of the family together. Watching it, it is hard to believe you were gone a short 1 month and 2 days later.

I miss the "lines" you were known for. "You take care of yourself, you hear." "Get home safe."
That is how you always said goodbye. We used to tease you about it. I would give anything to hear you say those things again. I wish you "took care of yourself" and never put a cigarette to your lips. I take comfort in knowing you "got home safe" surrounded by the ones who loved you the most.

I miss the way you would sing silly songs to the kids. There was one about "A pound of cheese". For the life of me, I can't remember the words. Sometimes you would sing "There was a little girl, who had a little curl..." or "A Bushel and a Peck". I find myself often singing the latter to the twins.

I miss calling the house and hearing you on the other end of the phone. You would have a five minute conversation with me however you quite often thought I was Sherri. Our phone calls would always end with you saying "Love you too" before I even said "Love you."

I miss you.

I miss him a lot but still can't believe it either. He will live forever in his beautiful children and grandchildren and forever be remembered as a wonderful person and friend.
