Happy 2nd Birthday Kaitlyn & Ryan!

Happy 2nd Birthday Kaitlyn!

Birth: 5lbs 4oz 19 inches
One Year Old: 20lbs 29 ½ inches
Two Years Old: 28lbs 4oz 33 inches

Katie,
Oh, little Katie-cakes. One look into those big brown eyes and it’s all over for Mommy and Daddy. This past year has been such an amazing one for you. You “graduated” early intervention. You started crawling right after your first birthday and took your first steps exactly 4 months later. Now you keep up with Ryan by running around the house. You love to go for walks and Daddy and I love to watch the way you swing your arms when you walk. It’s the cutest thing! You have a full head of curly hair (wonder who you got that from). It’s one of the first things people notice about you. I could just hear Poppy Richie singing to you..."There was a little girl, who had a little curl…”. You still are very easy to please but when you don’t get what you want, your temper comes through. Your favorite things to do are to play with your blocks, the shape sorter and puzzles. Your favorite character is Elmo, or as you put it “Melmo”. Whenever we put on music you twirl around in circles and laugh. You are a good eater with a preference for meats and pastas, always handing veggies back to me or throwing them on the floor to Daisy. Speaking of Daisy. She continues to be part of your everyday enjoyment. Some days you chase her around trying to put her leash on her and saying “Go”. Other times you like to hold her hind legs and make her walk or you share your snacks with her. Your language skills are developing and you understand everything told to you. You even help mommy and daddy clean and dust. Some of your daily words includes mommy, daddy, gama (grandma), nana, nite-nite, car, go, bye-bye, elmo, barney, maggie (neighbors dog), flower, eat, snack, shoe, sock, bunny, light, sky, go away, down, hi, hello, love you, Ryan, no, chuck(for truck), tree, ca-ca (cousin Jessica), iler (for cousin Tyler), more, potty, p-u and Daisy. Mommy and Daddy are very lucky you continue to take a daily 3-4 hour nap. You always want us to cover you with your blanket and can’t sleep without your pink dolly.

There are some days when all you and Ryan do is fight. You are very possessive over certain toys and even if you are not playing with them, you don’t want Ryan to either. Recently, you started holding hands with each other when we walk or you will play Ring around the Rosy together. When you show affection towards one another it melts my heart. I know you two will always be the best of friends.

Kaitlyn, you are so full of love and give hundreds of kisses a day. You pucker up those lips and plant one on mommy and daddy as many times as possible. You have this cute little smile you do when you close your eyes and turn your head, especially when I get the camera out. It makes me laugh every time. You are the little girl we always wanted and we can’t wait to see what this upcoming year has in store for us!

Happy 2nd Birthday Ryan!

Birth: 7lbs 3oz 20 inches
One Year Old: 25lbs 33inches
Two Years Old: 30lbs 35inches

Ryan,
You are turning into a little boy right before our eyes!! Once you started walking on Aug 30, 2008 you never looked back. You keep us on our toes Ryan! You are into everything and anything and have no fear about it. You are extremely inquisitive. There has been much baby proofing around here since you took those steps. Opening and closing doors, climbing on tables…slow down, please! Just like Katie, you love to be outside and would probably spend all day running around if you could. You love the park, the slide and looking at the trees. Sometimes, in the house, you will run around the kitchen and living room in circle and laugh. It cracks us up! You have so much energy! Your favorite things to do include looking at books, playing with blocks and dancing. Your vocabulary amazes us each day, as you say more and more. The words you speak far exceed what we could put here. Sometime you say something and I wonder “when did you learn that word? ”. You put 2-3 word sentences together and you can count to 5 (although not always in the correct order.) My favorite word however continues to be Mommy. When you look at me with your wide eyes, raised eyebrows, tilt your head and say “Mommy” …it’s all over.

Ryan, you continue to be mommy’s little hero. You are tolerating your PKU lifestyle and maintaining healthy PKU levels. Some days it is a challenge because you are a picky eater. If you could eat fruit 24-7, you would. Mommy enjoys cooking new low protein recipes for you and it makes me very happy when you like them. We know the years to come will be challenging but together as a family we will get through it. You have taught mommy more about patience and the important things in life than I ever thought possible.

You are a sweet, loving boy and beyond affectionate. We love your hugs and the way you lean in and say “aaw” at the same time. You are always blowing kisses and never go to bed without running up to Daisy and giving her a hug nite-nite. You continue to bring excitement and adventure to our days. You are everything to us and more.

Happy Birthday Kaitlyn and Ryan. We love you very much and can't imagine life any other way. you. Mommy and Daddy can’t believe you are 2 years old!! Where did our little babies go? You have quickly turned into toddlers and it is all happening way too fast but we wouldn't have it any other way.
