19 months

Today was our 19 month well check. Both kids are doing good with the exception of a nasty cough Ryan has and runny noses.

Katie weighed in at 23 lbs 15 oz with a height of 32 1/4 inches. She is so good at the office. She takes it all in, lets everyone go about their business and makes it easy for all involved. She is meeting all her milestones. I would like to see her walk some more but the doctor said as long as she can she she can do it, not to worry. Kaitlyn performs more fine motor skills than Ryan. She prefers to eat with utensils unlike Ryan who prefers to throw them on the floor. She loves to make animal sounds and although is more on the quiet side, her favorite word of the week is "uh-oh".

Ryan weighed in at 27lbs 8oz with a height of 33 1/4 inches. His visits to any place which resembles an office is to say the least nightmarish. From the instant we walk in until the instant we leave he cries, screams and is inconsolable. I can't blame the child. For 18 months he has been getting monthly blood work. The fear in him is apparent and I would do anything to take it away. On a happier note, he is very physical and in the past week has started to "run". He is very vocal, always having conversations with himself and when he directs it at us it always sounds like he is asking a question. He gets this high pitch at the end of each gibberish sentence and he raises his eyebrows in such a cute way. He is pro at pointing to all his (and everyone else's) body parts. He loves, loves, loves The Big Comfy Couch show and Elmo.

Just like many siblings, some days they are best friends and others I spend refereeing. Ryan is in a hair pulling stage and Katie's preferred method of torture is hitting or pinching. When they do play together it melts my heart. Katie loves to chase Ryan (and the dog). They imitate everything the other does. If one starts clapping, the other does. If one starts banging their head on the couch, the other does. I call it the "monkey see, monkey do" game. Ryan is definitely more affectionate at this age than Katie. He loves to hug and kiss. There are daily fights for mommy's lap where Ryan prefers my leg and Katie has to be sitting right in the middle.
Can't wait to see what the next month has in store for us!
